Please note that this exercise will NOT replace the CORS Bidding Exercise.

  2. The Graduation and Academic Planning System (GAPS) allows returning students who had declared their majors to check the modules they have read against their graduation requirements from Fri, 26 Dec – Thu, 15 Jan 2009. No classification or declaration activities via GAPS during this period.

  3. Students intending to graduate or withdraw their file for graduation Semester 1, AY 2008-09 may file for graduation (FFG) after the Semester 1 exams in person at the Dean's Office during the period, Tue 23 Dec – Fri, 26 Dec 2008. Please complete classification of all modules at the Dean's Office before proceeding to FFG. (See Note 7, Special Note (a))

  4. Only FASS students who have read cross-listed modules offered by FASS are eligible:

    •  those who have read a module cross-listed with an exposure module which they now wish to major in (there is n need to accumulate a minimum number of MC to be eligible); or

    •  for other cases, students must have accumulated at least 80 MCs.

If your module conversion request is approved, a sum of 30 bid points will be deducted from your bidding account. The form is available at the FASS Homepage> To Do> Forms and Online System.

  5. The Graduation and Academic Planning System (GAPS) allows returning student s to:

    - classify their modules
    - declare/change their major(s)/FASS minor(s) (for ARS1, ARS2 and ARS3 students only);
    - check the list of modules read
    - file for graduation (Students intending to graduate in Semester 2, AY 2008-09 may file for graduation (FFG) before Semester 2 exams during the period, Fri, 16 Jan - Tue, 20 Jan. Please complete classification of all modules before proceeding to FFG.)

Note: Filing for graduation only indicates that you intend to graduate in Semester 2, AY2008-09. Students are advised to check that they meet graduation requirements before filing for graduation.

If you are unsure whether to FFG or to continue with Honours, but have checked that you meet B.A. graduation requirements, you should either

    a)        consult the academic advisor of your major(s) OR
    b)        proceed to FFG during the period (Fri, 16 Jan – Tue, 20 Jan) so that we can verify that you have met the graduation requirements. If after the release of exam results, you decide to continue with Honours, see Note 7 below.

  6. Students Students are advised to verify that they have registered for the correct modules. Students who are not listed as registered for a particular module may be refused entry to the examination hall.

  7. Students intending to graduate in Semester 2, AY 2008-09 may file for graduation (FFG) after the Semester 2 exams in person at the Dean's Office during the period, Fri, 29 May - Tue, 2 Jun.

IMPORTANT : Late cases of FFG after exam result release are not encouraged. If you inform us too late of your intention, you would be conferred the degree later, and you would not be able to attend Commencement 2009. You will have to attend Commencement 2010 instead.

    Special Note (a):

For students who did not FFG before the exam, please complete classification of all modules via GAPS before proceeding to the Dean's Office to FFG. (see also Note 4 above).

Students who have filed for graduation but decide to withdraw must submit the withdrawal request in person at the Dean's Office within 3 working days of the release of examination results.

If you decide to continue with Honours, then

    •  if you have FFG earlier, you MUST submit the FFG withdrawal request to the Dean's Office. After the withdrawal is updated, you will need to change from the B.A. track to Honours track and proceed with module classification under the Honours track and proceed with module classification under the Honours track, via GAPS.

    •  if you have not FFG, you may update from B.A. track to Honours track using GAPS then proceed with module classification under the Honours track.

You need to change from B.A. track to Honours track, otherwise you may encounter difficulties bidding for level 4000 modules during CORS. If you are unsure whether to pursue an Honours degree, you may consult the academic advisor of your major.

Once you are conferred the B.A degree, you cannot return to do your Honours. The B.A degree once conferred, cannot be rescinded. That means, you cannot return to pursue your Honours degree. If you are unsure whether to pursue an Honours degree, you may consult the academic advisor of your major.
