Joint Degree Programme launch
To mark the launch of the Joint Degree Programme in Economics, English Literature, Geography, History and Political Science between the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at NUS and the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNCCH), the following activities will be held on Tuesday 27 February 2007:
Talk on "Rights and Responsibilities: Globalization and the International Research University"

Albert R. Newsome Professor of History and Economics, and Associate Provost for International Affairs University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill will be delivering a talk on:
"Rights and Responsibilities: Globalization and the International Research University"

In this talk, Professor Coclanis will argue that:

globalization provides unprecedented opportunities for research universities and their intramural constituents, but that

such opportunities will prove hollow unless the universities and constituents benefiting therefrom work to spread such benefits to those less well served by the globalization process. In so doing, Professor Coclanis will use North Carolina and Singapore as cases.

UNCCH-NUS Exhibition
Time: 10.30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Venue: Walkway linking AS1 and AS6
Come and find out what studying at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNCCH) is like. Put up by FASS students who have spent at least a semester on student exchange at UNCCH, the exhibits will tell of their experiences and provide useful, practical information on things like budgeting for a semester there and how to make the best of you time there and still keep your grades up!
FASS students and UNCCH students in NUS this semester will be on hand to answer your questions.

All interested FASS students are invited to come to this talk to find out more about the Joint Degree Programme and how you can apply for it. Associate Professor John Richardson, Vice Dean (Undergraduate Matters and International Relations) will conduct the briefing, together with the Joint Degree Programme Committee members. Light refreshments will be served after the briefing.
