1 General Education Modules (GEMs) from Subject Group A can be used to fulfil Breadth requirements for FASS students. Subject Group A GEMs are characterized by the second digit being "5" e.g. GEKx5xx. Excess GEMs from Subject Group B, Subject Group C and Singapore Studies modules (SSMs) (except those offered by FASS and CELC or Centre for English Language Communications) may be used to fulfil the Breadth requirements.
2 At least 4 MCs must be from Subject Group A. The other 4 MCs can be from Subject Group A or B.

3 GEMs and SSMs must not be crosslisted with a module from student’s declared major(s)/minor(s).
4 At least one exposure module (4 MC) from each of the following divisions:
• Humanities
• Social Sciences
• Asian Studies
The exposure modules for Faculty requirements exclude the exposure modules read for students’ major(s).
5 At least one exposure module (4 MC) from each of the division stated in 4. The fourth exposure module can be from any division. The exposure modules for Faculty requirements exclude the exposure modules read for students’ major(s).
6 The 88 MCs of major modules includes:
• the exposure module of the subject
• at least 20 MCs at level-3000
• at least 28 MCs at level-4000

7 The 100 MCs of major modules includes:
• the exposure module of the subject
• at least 20 MCs at level-3000
• at least 40 MCs at level-4000

8 Students may use any modules outside of their major to fulfil the Unrestricted Electives requirement. The modules can be FASS modules, Breadth or GEMs and SSMs that are not crosslisted with a module from the student’s declared major(s).
The Honours Thesis (HT) is not a compulsory requirement to be awarded an honours degree except in the case of first class honours. Please refer to the Honours page for more information.
