Tim Bunnell is Professor in the Department of Geography where he serves as Deputy Chair of the Graduate Studies Committee and as co-editor of the Singapore Journal of Tropical Geography. He is also Chair of the Cities cluster in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

Prof Bunnell is a member of the editorial boards of Pacific Affairs, Social and Cultural Geography, Environment and Planning A, Dialogues in Human Geography and Bijdragen lot de Taal-, Land- en Volkenkunde. He also edits the Cities Section of the ARI-Springer Book Series.


Research Interests/Publications:

His areas of interest are the politics of urban development (especially in Malaysia and Indonesia), network conceptions of landscape, place and the city, and urban futures. He is currently principal investigator for a comparative ethnographic research project on urban aspirations in Asia. 'Aspirations, Urban Governance and the Remaking of Asian Cities' is funded by the Singapore Ministry of Education's Academic Research Council (AcRF Tier 2). The project involves collaboration with Daniel P.S. Goh and Eric C. Thompson (as co-Principal Investigators) and a range of other scholars in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and at the Asia Research Institute at NUS.
