As one of the departments in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the Department of Chinese Studies has full-time teaching staff who graduated from prestigious universities in different parts of the world. Our professors with distinguished teaching and research records have inspired more than 1000 students every year. They are dedicated to fostering collaborations with scholars all over the world in order to improve our students' learning experience.
Chinese Studies and Chinese Language are offered as two separate specialisations in the B.A. programme. The B.A. Honours programme in Chinese Studies is available to students who have read either Chinese Studies or Chinese Language as a single major or first major. Chinese Studies-Chinese Language, Philosophy-Chinese Studies, and Chinese Studies-Philosophy double majors are currently offered at point-of-entry to top students, while Global Studies-Chinese Studies and Global Studies-Chinese Language double majors will be offered at point-of-entry to top students from AY2020-2021. There are lists of cross-recognised modules between the two departments, as well as specific module requirements to be fulfilled for these double majors. Students majoring in other departments who would like to take Chinese Studies or Chinese Language as their second major can refer here for the general requirements.
