1. Chinese Studies Entrance Scholarship
Eligibility Information Award Value
  • Gained admission into FASS Full Time Undergraduate
  • Chinese Studies and/or Chinese Language major(s)
  • Good academic results and leadership qualities
  • Offered to incoming students upon application
  • Scholarship will be disbursed after matriculation
  • Read 2 core modules (including 1101E) per semester
  • Priority given to Singapore Citizens and SPR
$10,000

Scholarship will be disbursed over two semesters

Application Period: April/May

2. SCCCF Scholarship
Eligibility Information Award Value
  • Year 2 CH/CL Major Undergraduates
  • Singaporean / SPR
  • CAP => 4
  • Good leadership skills
  • Bilingual
  • Good involvement in CCAs
  • Shows keen interest and knowledge of local Chinese Businesses
  • Attend an award presentation organized by Donor
  • 5000 words essay each year, topic to be
    assigned by Department, in consulation with Donor (expected to finish the essay
    within 1 month after being briefed)

OR

  • Work with researchers at Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall
$15,000

Awarded in the 2nd year, tenable for remaining duration of undergraduate study

3. Wan Boo Sow “雲 茂 潮” Chinese Scholarship
Eligibility Information Award Value
  • Born in Singapore and/or Singaporean-at-birth
  • CAP => 3.5
  • Year 2 students, major in CL or CH
  • Bilingual
  • Interview required
  • No bond but required to take on the role of student ambassadors
  • Not to be in receipt of other scholarship/bursaries/free aid without consent
$10,000 / scholarship

Up to 3 awards per academic year

4. Cocoa Trees Scholarship
Eligibility Information Award Value
  • 1st year full-time students accepted offer to major in Chinese Studies and who achieved good 'A' level or equivalent results
  • 2nd to 4th year CH/CL Major Undergraduate students
  • Singapore / SPR
  • CAP => 3.5
  • Bilingual
  • Good leadership skills
  • Eligible to apply for the scholarship in subsequent years, if received previously
  • No bond but required to take on the role of student ambassadors
  • Not to be in receipt of other scholarship/bursaries/free aid without consent

  • Full Time Honors Student

  • Research and write an Honors thesis on Taoism
    OR Chinese Religions in China, Taiwan, Hongkong and SE Asia
  • Give public talk after submitting thesis

  • Full Time CH/CL Honors Student and Graduate Research Students
  • Priority given to Singaporean & SPR
Award recipient will be required to:
  • Research & write a thesis on a topic related to Singapore / Documentary literature
  • Present the findings within or outside the University (At the Department's sole discretion)
  • Acknowledge receipt of the prize in presentation and publication

And/Or

  • Conduct a guided tour to historical or cultural sites in Singapore

Or

  • Public Talk on similar themes
