Introduction to Professional Video Editing

Course Outline

This course focuses on the production phase of post-production, exploring industry contexts and examples to practice working in teams as well as individually to understand principles of storytelling through professional video editing in context with professional production phase execution and the craft of storytelling.

 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn the principles of professional video editing
  2. Learn how to edit videos using professional editing software and the principles of workflow.
  3. Project exercises and peer review

 

Participants are encouraged to take this class in conjunction with Introduction to Professional Videography.

 

Course Cancellation/Postponement

CNM reserves the right to cancel or postpone any programme due to unforeseen circumstances. In the event that a programme is cancelled or rescheduled and the fee has been paid, CNM will refund the nett programme fee received.

Registration

Registration will typically close two weeks before the programme cmmencement date, or when the class is fully subscribed. Registration can remain open until course commencement date if training places are still available.

 

If accepted for the course, NUS requires pre-payment by credit card, bank transfer or a signed purchase order.

Substitution, Deferment, and Cancellation

The following policies and charges will apply for late notice of deferment or cancellation by participants, except for cases that can be waived based on compassionate or medical grounds.

  • Substitution
    • At least one week prior to programme commencement: no charge
    • Within one week to programme commencement: 5% of full programme fees
       
  • Cancellation
    • ‚Äč‚Äč‚ÄčWithin two weeks to programme commencement: 50% of full programme fees
    • Within one week to programme commencement: 100% of full programme fees
       
  • Deferment
    • ‚Äč‚Äč‚ÄčDeferment is permitted on compassionate or medical grounds. Relevant proof or documents must be submitted to substantiate the grounds.
       
  • Withdrawal
    • ‚Äč‚ÄčThere will be no refund of programme fees if notification for withdrawal is received after programme commencement.

NUS must be notified in writing of all substitutions, cancellations, deferments, and withdrawals.

Who should attend?

Professionals seeking to deepen or broaden their knowledge in videography and the film industry, with a least a Polytechnic diploma.


Participants will be required to generate their own footage with any available recording device, such as a smartphone or a camera.


Participants will need computer access, and access to either Adobe Premiere or Da Vinci Resolve video editing softwares; free trials are available for both softwares.
