Social Media and Public Relations

Overview

Social media has become a critical tool for 90% of all organisations today, whether in the private, public or NGO sector. Yet many brands still struggle to effectively utilise these platforms to engage their audience. Sometimes it is an issue of unrealistic expectations, poor targeting of audiences, or just a better engagement strategy. With so much invested, time, resources, and the critical need to maximise the utility and potential of social media, organisations need to ensure that they make the most of their social media presence.
This two day workshop will help participants improve their organisation’s efforts on social media.

This two day workshop is designed to equip any organisation’s communications/crisis team on what to expect, what to do, and how to prepare for that dreaded crisis.

 

Course Outline

After completing the workshop, participants should be able to walk away with a strategic social media plan for their organisations and be well equipped with written, visual, and oral presentation skills for presenting impactful social media content. Participants will learn to:

  1. Understand and engage social media audiences
  2. Determine factors affecting the effective use of social media for organisations
  3. Select appropriate social media platforms that best serve the organizational purposes
  4. Conduct social media listening to spot trends and developing issues
  5. Create relevant and impactful social media content
  6. Present social media content effectively in various modes e.g. written texts, photos & infographics, presentation for livestreaming and webinars
  7. Manage negative social media engagement from the publics
  8. Measure the effectiveness of social media for organisations
  9. Understand the basics of social media analytics

Who should attend?

Executives who wishes to deepen or broaden their skills in media engagement/ communication, with at least a Polytechnic diploma and proficiency in English.
