Job Availability: Postdoctoral Fellow

Roles & Responsibilities

We are looking to hire two full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellows to join our Motivation and Self-Regulation Lab in the Department of Psychology at the National University of Singapore (NUS). The postdocs will work with Dr. Patricia Chen to (1) investigate how students at different education levels approach their learning, and (2) design and test psychological interventions to promote effective learning. We are keen on working with highly skilled and motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellows who can balance both the roles of an independent researcher and an amicable collaborator.

The Postdoctoral Research Fellowship is an excellent opportunity to publish in top tier journals, to develop skills in conducting research that has real-world implications for learners, to work in a multi-disciplinary team, and to mentor younger students. There may also be some opportunities to teach some classes at the National University of Singapore during the fellowship. We invite all eligible and interested applicants to apply for these fellowships, including international applicants and locally-based applicants.

Why You Should Be Excited About Working With Us

The Motivation and Self-Regulation Lab studies the mindsets and behaviors that promote learning, performance, and well-being. We design and test psychological interventions that address the challenges that people face, with the goal of helping them achieve their educational, professional, and well-being goals. To understand the kind of research that we specialize in, please visit our lab website (www.patriciachen.com) to find out more.

The National University of Singapore is the flagship university of Singapore, a vibrant, cosmopolitan city-state that is one of the top-ranking Asian universities globally. We value cutting-edge research and interventions to foster better learning and instructional excellence. Moreover, the best parts of living in metropolitan Singapore are the high quality of life, clean and safe living environments, and a well-educated, bilingual population (where English is the official language).

Appointment Period

We would like each funded Postdoc to commit to the position for at least 2 years, but we have funding for a longer duration as a buffer for well-performing candidates to stay longer if they wish. Candidate should preferably start in July or August 2019.
